This presentation will discuss the relationship between dam-induced displacement and water security. To explore this question, Dr. Randell analyzed post-dam in-depth interview data and pre-dam survey data collected from 70 displaced and non-displaced women affected by the Belo Monte Dam in the Brazilian Amazon. Preliminary results suggest that displacement had both positive and negative impacts on multiple dimensions of water security including access, safety, and livelihoods.
