This presentation explores the complex effects of U.S. men's military service on their children's educational outcomes, particularly college completion. Using data from the U.S. Panel Study of Income Dynamics and propensity score weighting methods, the research examines how military service influences status attainment pathways and whether these impacts differ for Black and white men. The findings shed light on intergenerational dynamics of military service and its role in shaping opportunities for the next generation.
