This presentation discusses the automated linking of historical census records and its significance in studying socioeconomic topics like intergenerational mobility and immigrant assimilation. It highlights how match rates and accuracy of linked records vary across different population subgroups, particularly racial minorities and immigrants. The research aims to identify why certain groups are harder to link and proposes solutions to improve linkage accuracy. Enhancing record linkage for these groups will help reduce biases in linked datasets and enable more accurate studies of their unique experiences.
