Andrés Villarreal

Professor

Andrés Villarreal joined the University of Maryland in the fall of 2014. He conducts research in four primary areas: internal and international migration, race and ethnicity, crime and violence, and social inequality. Much of his research focuses on Latin America and the Latin American-origin population in the U.S. His work has appeared in the American Sociological Review, the American Journal of Sociology, Demography, and Social Forces, among other peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Villarreal is currently heading the Migration Research Laboratory at the Maryland Population Research Center.
