Wei hsin Yu


Wei-hsin Yu is a sociologist and social demographer specializing in the areas of social stratification and gender inequality. Her research generally focuses on how macrolevel forces influence individuals, paying special attention to their labor market trajectories, economic outcomes, family behaviors and psychological health. Much of her research is based on East Asian societies, especially Japan, China, and Taiwan. Some of her current projects, however, focus on employment experiences and job insecurity in the United States, however. Before joining the University of Maryland, she was a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin.
