Nicole Cousin-Gossett is the Director of Undergraduate Studies and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology. She received her B.A. from Towson University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Temple University. Prior to coming to UMD, she was a Senior Lecturer at UMBC in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Health Administration & Policy. At UMBC, she lead grant-funded efforts to redesign and improve the course Basic Concepts in Sociology, established and directed the Race & Inclusion Scholars Program and served on committees that sought to create a more inclusive campus. Her professional and teaching interest include social inequality, racial/ethnic relations and economic sociology.
