We are so very pleased to announce that Dr. Amy McLaughlin will join the Department of Sociology's undergraduate academic advising team as its new Lecturer and Academic Advisor.
Dr. McLaughlin has recently served our department as an integral part of the Women's Empowerment: Data for Gender Equality (WEDGE) Project, and is returning to the Sociology Undergraduate Program, where she previously held the position of Internship and Career Specialist. "Dr. McLaughlin was instrumental to the success of our undergraduate program during that time," writes Dr. Nicole De Loatch (Director of Undergraduate Studies). "McLaughlin helped students identify and acquire internships, taught a course that developed our undergraduate's career readiness, and engaged in mentoring our scholars through service to the academic community. She is an invaluable resource and guide for our undergraduates."
Department Chair Jeff Lucas adds that he is "thrilled that Dr. McLaughlin will be returning to our undergraduate office. Her knowledge of our program and commitment to the welfare of our students will make her an excellent Advisor. Additionally, Dr. McLaughlin has previously been active in creating opportunities for our undergraduate students, and I know that she and Dr. De Loatch will introduce exciting initiatives to support our students."
Please stop by the Undergraduate Lounge (2108 Parren J. Mitchell Art-Sociology Building) and meet Dr. McLaughlin in person!
