Barbara Fuller (’93, Sociology) recalls her time at the University of Maryland very clearly. Her decision to leave a career in health information administration and return to school was a pivotal moment in her life, and paved the way to the job she holds today: Senior Advisor for Ethics, at the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. Participating in a program that promotes and supports the ethical integrity of one of the nation’s foremost research institutions is a great responsibility, as Fuller’s role is designed to support an environment of trust in the innovative and important research conducted around the nation’s capitol. Undertaking such challenges requires a strong, well-rounded foundation – Fuller’s was developed at Maryland.
