Long Doan Receives 2025 Postdoc Mentor of the Year Award

Parren Mitchell Art-Sociology Building

Sociology Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies Long Doan has been selected as one of the University of Maryland's two recipients of the 2025 Postdoc Mentor of the Year Award. The award recognizes faculty members at the University of Maryland who have gone above and beyond this year to provide outstanding mentorship and support to postdocs on campus.

Through his "support and mentorship," writes Assistant Professor Kate Khanna, "Long has both ensured that I am best able to advance my research and promoted my integration into the department, so that I am best prepared to transition into the role of assistant professor and succeed in the department. These elements are crucial for my professional development both in the department and in the field more broadly."

Congratulations, Long!
