My research focuses on global historical transformation in political systems, especially as related to the war, military, and the intersections between war-making, governments, and civil society. I combine this macro-societal focus with meso- and micro-level perspectives concerning how military and political intuitions are situated in both contemporary and historical contexts. These include civil military relations, the status of military personnel, veterans, and their families, the conduct of war, as well as the interactions between these spheres and how these issues are situated in broader social trends. In doing so, I have employed comparative historical, archival, content analysis, and quantitative research methods.
