I am a doctoral student in the Department of Sociology. My primary research area is family demography and mental health regarding variety mechanisms of relationships between personals and structural factors. Also, I am interested in various accumulated disadvantages in life course driving people into vicious circles such as poor physical and mental health. My M.A. thesis topic is "Differentials of Age-specific suicide rate by areas in South Korea", reflecting recent steep increase of suicide rate and diverged pattern by age group and gender.
Before arriving at Maryland, I served National Military Service as supplier in Republic of Korea Airforce. After my B.A. degree of Sociology, I worked as assistant researcher in Korean Women Development Institute, one of the most prestigious governmental research institutes in South Korea. I participated various researches related to returning female workers, strength of kinship tie, information policy.
