Sara Schmidt is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Sociology department at the University of Maryland (College Park). She received her undergraduate degree with a major of Sociology and a minor in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in 2017. 
In her graduate studies, Sara specializes in Demography and Stratification. Specifically, her interest like in issues surrounding access to resources, food security, and education. Particularly she looks at how varying issues relate to preventable chronic disease.
