Originally from Wuhan, China, Jing earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.Her undergraduate thesis discussed how China's one-child policy impacts parents' choice of second child's sex in 1990s, controlling sex of the first child and parent education level. In her graduate work, Jing hopes to further study intergenerational transfer of capital as well as inequality within family. She also interested in domestic violence and abuse issues.
