Professor and Chair Liana Sayer has been named a co-recipient of the 2026 Ellen Galinsky Generative Researcher Award. Bestowed by the Work and Family Researchers Network (WFRN), this prestigious honor recognizes breakthrough contributions to the work-family field through open science, innovative theory, and dataset development.

Dr. Sayer shares the award alongside her long-time research collaborators, Drs. Sarah Flood and Melissa Milkie. The trio was selected for their collective impact on the development, support, and application of time-use data. Notably, Drs. Sayer and Flood co-led the IPUMS Time Use project for over a decade, securing critical federal funding to expand open-science data infrastructure and accessibility. Furthermore, Dr. Sayer’s collaborative research with Dr. Milkie examining gender dynamics in housework and childcare has deeply shaped the discipline, garnering over 5,000 citations across just three co-authored papers.

Dr. Sayer's career-long focus on cross-national inequalities and gender gaps in daily time allocation continues to illuminate important sociological trends. The department extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Sayer on this well-deserved recognition of her scholarship.
