The Department of Sociology welcomes Louise Ly this fall as a President's Postdoctoral Fellow. "We are excited that Louise Ly has joined the department under the mentorship of Associate Professor Dawn Dow," writes Chair Liana Sayer. "Louise's research in gender and identity, along with her novel approaches to experimental methodology, dovetail well with existing strengths in the department while also adding new areas of expertise."
Ly completed her Ph.D. in Sociology at University of California, Berkeley in 2023. Ly's work focuses on race, ethnicity, gender, immigration, sexuality, and aging. Using in-depth interviews, she currently studies processes of race-making within interracial couples and multiracial families. Ly looks forward to engaging and collaborating with her new colleagues in the department.
Welcome, Louise!
