The Department of Sociology is pleased to announce that Muna Adem will be joining us as an Assistant Professor in fall 2023. "Muna Adem is an exciting addition to the Department of Sociology," writes Chair Jeff Lucas. "Her specializations in race and immigration fit well with our departmental strengths and will also push us in new directions. I know that I can speak for everyone in the department in saying that we're thrilled Muna will be joining us in the fall."
Chair of the search committee, Dr. Rashawn Ray, writes that "Muna Adem has a fascinating line of research using social network analysis to examine how supreme court cases show cooperation or competition among Black, Latino, and Asian organizations. This research has a powerful set of social science and policy implications. Our department, college, and university are fortunate she will be a faculty member at the University of Maryland.
Adem will also work closely with the Maryland Population Research Center, where her work will contribute to the Center's "Immigration and Immigrant Processes" research theme.
